How do I enrol at a child care centre?

Call or email any of our centres to begin the enrolment process or join our waitlist.

Can I enrol online?

We’re in the process of creating an online enrolment system for all of our services, but it’s not quite ready yet! The best way to enrol for early learning care and family day care is by calling or emailing.

How is the waitlist managed?

We do our very best to make sure every child has a space at our centres when they need it. If there is a waitlist, families who have been on the waitlist the longest will be offered the first available positions.

How long should I expect to wait after putting my child’s name on a waitlist?

Waitlist times depend on centre availability and the number of other families who are on the list. Please talk to your local centre to find out more about their waitlist.

Child Care Costs & Child Care Subsidy

How much does it cost at a YMCA childcare centre?

Our fees for each centre are determined by the length of session and the age of your child. For centre-specific fees, visit the Acacia Ridge, Strathpine or Sunshine Coast pages.

We offer lower fees for 6-hour sessions. Our 9-hour, 10-hour and 11.5-hour sessions cost the same amount, meaning you can take advantage of longer care for the same price as shorter care if needed. Our sessions are broken down by hours so that families can make the most of the Child Care Subsidy. As the Subsidy only covers a certain number of child care hours per fortnight, breaking down our sessions into different lengths allows you to only use up the Child Care Subsidy hours you need.

Do you provide families access to Child Care Subsidy?

YMCA Child Care is an approved provider for the Child Care Subsidy. Families can use the Child Care Subsidy at our all early learning centres, family day care and OSHC.

Who should I ask for when I arrive?

Just find one of our friendly staff and they can welcome and show you around. Look for a red shirt!

What will my child’s first day look like?

Your child is sure to have an exciting and fun-filled first day at YMCA early learning centres! Our educators will go the extra length to make them feel at home, making sure they are included in group activities to get to know others. Depending on their age, they’ll get to do fun activities like paint, play pretends and dig in the sandpit. When you come to collect them, they’ll be asking when they can come back.

What do I need to prepare for my child to bring?

Please bring a labelled water bottle or bottle for formula, as well as two pieces of fruit. Pack some sheets for rest time and bring a spare change of clothes - having fun can be messy work! Don’t forget nappies if needed and your child’s comforter.

Do I need to pack sunscreen?

We’ve got you covered - literally! All of our centres provide sunscreen and a hat.
