Running your own family day care at home with the support of YMCA Brisbane.
At the Y Family Day Care, your child has the benefit of exploration, learning through play and growing in a home environment. Our qualified, experienced Educators offer high quality early learning that is truly personalised for the unique needs of each child. The Y Family Day Care Educators care for no more than four children under four, with a maximum of seven which includes school aged children. For parents seeking a nurturing learning setting, Family Day Care offers a government-approved alternative to child care centres.
The Y Family Day Care service connects families with qualified and trustworthy educators across Brisbane and the Gold Coast. We are an Approved Service with a broad network of educators. All of the above ensures our Educators meet all requirements of the National Early Childhood Education and Care Law, Regulations and National Quality Framework, Family Assistance Law, The Y Policies and Procedures.
Family Day Care Educators are required to have attained or be completing a minimum of a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. They will also have a current First Aid and CPR Certificate, current and positive Working with Children Blue Care Notice. They will in addition be required to have a Criminal History Check completed before being contracted with the Y.
The YFamily Day Care team provides ongoing support and mentoring to the educators through regular visits by the Coordinator, Educational Leader and other member of the team. Included in these visits is the review of the educational program and practice, a well-being check on the educator and children in care, and compliance checks.
Educators are the heart of Family Day Care services. All Y approved educators will have access to regular training courses and a wide variety of resources to create a quality child care environment at home.
Our Y Coordinators work closely with families and educators to make sure your children have the best experience and learning opportunities. Families may request a Coordinator to provide an extra visit to an educator to assist on any matters.
We provide children with experiences that nurture their interests and provide them with fun, engaging, and safe learning opportunities. You'll love the way they grow.
The Y is proud to offer child care at an affordable price.
Each Family Day Care Educator being self-employed, sets their own fees within a range set by the service.
Family Day Care rates vary according to each educator’s individual fee structure. The fee structures are based on their working hours, range of services provided and the age of children in care. All educators comply with YMCA’s fee setting schedule, ensuring that quality home-based child care services are affordable for families.
Family Day Care is an eligible childcare service to access the Governments Child Care Subsidy to reduce the cost of care.
The subsidy amount you are entitled to is determined by three factors: combined family income, activity test and child care service type. You must also meet the CCS Eligibility requirements determined by Centrelink.
Choosing the style of care that’s right for your family is important. Family Day Care provides high quality care for your children and offers a range of additional benefits.
